Claude-Joseph Vernet was a French visual artist who was born in 1714. Claude-Joseph Vernet has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the The Wallace Collection and at the The Detroit Institute of Arts. Numerous works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'A Grand View of the Sea Shore Enriched with Buildings, Shipping and Figures' sold at Sotheby's New York 'Important Old Master Paintings & Sculpture' in 2011 for $7,026,500. There have been Numerous articles about Claude-Joseph Vernet, including 'Beaverbrook Foundation to auction 48 art works it gained title to in lengthy legal battle' written by James Adams for The Globe and Mail in 2010. The artist died in 1789.
