 Claude Monet (French, 1840 - 1926)

Celebrated artist Claude Monet was the founder of the French Impressionist style of painting, and was the most prolific painter of the genre. Many of his most famous works feature the beloved water-lily gardens he tended to at his home in Giverny. One such piece, Le bassin aux nymphéas sold at Christie's in 2008 for a record-breaking hammer-price of £36,500,000 ($71,892,376.34).
