Jan Vermeer was a Dutch painter who was born in 1632. Jan Vermeer has had numerous gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center and at the de Young Museum. Numerous works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'A YOUNG WOMAN SEATED AT THE VIRGINALS' sold at Sotheby's London 'Old Master Paintings, Part 1' in 2004 for $30,167,524. There have been Numerous articles about Jan Vermeer, including 'Art review: 'Woman With a Lute' by Johannes Vermeer at Norton Simon Museum' written by Sharon Mizota for Los Angeles Times in 2011. The artist died in 1675.
