French artist, Marcel Duchamp, is one of the most influential, yet controversial artists of the 20th century. His method of questioning the art market and process of creating art had established his own technique and genre of art, while still being associated with the Dada and Surrealist Movements. One of his most well known works of art was his "Fountain" urinal piece, a mundane object with a title, date, signature and new perspective. Throughout his artistic career, his work and style were criticized, but after his death, he and his work were celebrated with many reproductions of his art, and through the establishment of the Prix Marcel Duchamp in 2000.
