Richard Avedon was a contemporary American visual artist who was born in 1923. Richard Avedon has had numerous gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and at the de Young Museum. Numerous works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'Dovima with elephants, Evening dress by Dior, Cirque d'Hiver, Paris, August 1955' sold at Christie's Paris 'Avedon: Photographs from the Richard Avedon Fondation' in 2010 for $1,151,109. There have been Numerous articles about Richard Avedon, including 'Best Western' written by Vince Aletti for The New Yorker in 2009. The artist died in 2004.
