Shepard Fairey is an American contemporary graphic designer, and illustrator who emerged from the skateboarding scene. In 2003 he founded the Studio Number One design agency with his wife Amanda Fairey. His work became widely known in the 2008 U.S. presidential election, specifically his Barack Obama "Hope" poster, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston calls him one of today's best known and most influential street artists. In 2011 Time Magazine commissioned Fairey to design its cover to honor "The Protester" as Person of the Year.
