Texas artist John Palmer calls his work "escapism," using emotional rather than technical terms to describe abstract paintings that are full of energy and movement and express a sense of freedom and fun. In keeping with the spirit of the season, McMurtrey Gallery presents a group holiday show entitled Revisiting Red, featuring artworks containing the color red.

Holiday Show

HOUSTON.... The December show at Jack Meier Gallery features new work by four gallery regulars: landscape painter Nancy Bush, still-life artists David Harrison and Lindy Schillaci, and impressionistic painter Quang Ho. "The real essence of painting is the dialogue between shapes, tones, colors, textures, edges, and lines. Everything else follows," says Colorado artist Ho. "One day I may be interested in a color statement, the next may be a relationship of simple shapes, and the next an extremely complex arrangement of texture and edges. With every painting there is a singular visual thought to be completed." The show opens with a reception on Saturday, December 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.
