Auctions have been held in New Bond Street since 1796, when Harry Phillips founded a company bearing his name. Bonhams, founded in 1793, merged with Phillips in 2001 to become the world’s oldest auctioneers of its kind remaining with British ownership. Today, Bonhams is the world’s third largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques.
