About the Venue

Christie's, the world's oldest fine art auctioneer, has sold fine art, furniture, jewelry and wine since James Christie conducted the first sale in London on 5 December 1766. Since then Christie's has continued to provide the perfect backdrop for the world's finest collections and greatest works of art before their auction. Christie's moved to its headquarters at 8 King Street, St. James's, in 1823, still its London headquarters today. Many major international auctions have been conducted in the famous Great Room at Christie's King Street during the firm's illustrious history. Recent sales have included the Collection of the Barons Nathaniel and Albert von Rothschild, which set a world auction record of $90 million for any European single-owner sale.
