The exhibition showcases selections from the recent gift of 153 original Andy
Warhol photographs to the permanent collection of the University of Richmond Museums, given as part of the
Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program. Preoccupied with fame, beauty, and popular culture, Warhol’s Polaroid photographs and black-and-white gelatin silver prints present a glimpse into the artist’s aesthetics and into the circle of celebrities and art collectors that enabled him to use the camera both as an equalizer and a social diary. Some of the people represented in the exhibition include Mick Jagger, Paul Anka, Dorothy Hamill, and clothing designers Stephen Sprouse and Carolina Herrera.
