Back to Nature Landscapes Drawn by Masters

Jun 02, 2013 - Sep 28, 2013
The exhibition reveals a selection of works from the 17th century during the course of which landscape became a genre in its own right in European art. Throughout the years artists painted landscapes they had either seen with their own eyes or in their imagination, and described scenes that touched their hearts or suited their mood; among them Annibale Carracci, Rembrandt van Rijn, Claude Lorrain, William Turner, Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Emil Nolde, Joseph Zaritsky, Avigdor Arikha, Aviva Uri and many others. The descriptions of landscape in the exhibition range from realistic to abstract. All of the works are from the collection of works on paper from the Prints and Drawings Department.
