E.H. Shepard: The Art of Popular Culture

Ernest Howard Shepard was a wide-ranging artist and illustrator, celebrated for his immortal illustrations to Winnie-the Pooh and Wind in the Willows, his joyous talent for representing children in literature, and his sharp political cartoons in the pages of Punch.

At the heart of this new selling exhibition is the Christopher Fyfe Collection, a remarkable group of over 50 original E H Shepard artworks acquired over many years by a discerning Australian collector. The collection features many of E H Shepard’s early cartoons for Punch, as well as an extensive group of illustrations for books such as Dream Days, Everybody’s Pepys, Drawn From Life, and many more.
