Joint Venture: Donald Saff and the Art of Collaboration investigates Saff’s role as a technical innovator who helped create the
artwork of Nancy Graves,
Roy Lichtenstein,
Robert Rauschenberg, and
James Rosenquist. This exhibition presents work created at Graphicstudio and Saff Tech Arts, as well as prints and sculptures from Saff’s personal collection. After working with artists at Graphicstudio, which is run under the auspices of the University of South Florida in Tampa, Saff founded Saff Tech Arts, a collaborative printmaking workshop in Oxford, Maryland, in 1990. The objects produced both at Graphicstudio and at Saff Tech Arts reflect not only the talent of each artist but also the creative influence of Donald Saff, who directed the works’ production. Saff’s ingenious talent is manifested in his nontraditional solutions, incorporating art and technology. As he once said, “If the artist can think it, we can make it.”
