Kate Rhoades: The Chicken Bit the Dust

Nov 07, 2025 - Dec 27, 2025

“We had talked for six hours, from one in the afternoon until seven; I had at that moment an impression of our act of creation so strong, so sharp, so extraordinarily vivid, that I could not believe all our talking hadn’t led to something more tangible-- mightn’t you expect (at least) a little blue pyramid sitting in the middle of the floor?”

- Joanna Russ, On Strike Against God, 1980

This show is about my grandma though I only met her once. It is also about psychosis. It is also about chicken farming in Santa Clara county. It’s also about family curses, or not. It’s about an apricot orchard and escaping from an ambulance naked then stealing a tarp to wear.
