Librería Donceles
Librería Donceles is a social-practice art project by Mexico-born, New York-based artist/educator Pablo Helguera. It takes the form of an itinerant Spanish-language used bookstore and event space.
Since its founding in 2013, it has traveled to Anchorage, Boston, New York City (twice), Chicago, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Fresno, and Seattle. Librería Donceles has been the sole Spanish-language bookstore in almost every city it has visited, offering a place where people of all backgrounds can come together to celebrate Latinx and Hispanic culture and heritage.
This is a community space. All are welcome. You may linger in Librería Donceles as long as you like, without buying anything. The books are for sale on a pay-what-you-wish basis.
