This exhibition focuses on the iconic shape of “the house,” a form that carries with it an amazing set of associations, from the physical to the psychological. It features an international roster of artists, including Vito Acconci, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Louise Bourgeois, Gregory Crewdson, Roy Lichtenstein, Cindy Sherman, Laurie Simmons, and Ai Weiwei, who reveal the ways in which rooms, roof, scale, and surroundings can establish complex conditions of intimacy, security, and community.
