Over the Rainbow: Seduction and Identity From the collection of Salah Bachir and Jacob Yerex
Presented to celebrate WorldPride Toronto 2014, Over the Rainbow: Seduction and Identity is a group exhibition of artworks drawn from one of Toronto’s most significant private collections of contemporary art.
Over the Rainbow acknowledges many of the familiar archetypes associated with queer culture – sexuality, camp, celebrity, rainbows – and looks beyond these to examine reciprocal ways that gay and mainstream representation have influenced each other, and in doing so have contributed to shaping aspects of our culture and of our identities over the last several decades.
Stephen Andrews/ Attila Richard Lukacs/ Public Studio/ Justine Kurland/ Betty Goodwin/ General Idea/ Andy Fabo/ Andy Warhol/ Keith Haring/ Annie Leibovitz/ Herb Ritts/ and more
