Print Goes Pop
Print Goes Pop will be a colourful exploration of the way artists have used the screenprinting method in their work, particularly during the 1960s when many ‘pop’ artists embraced the technique to make vibrant large-scale prints embracing imagery from popular culture. Artists on display will include Richard Hamilton, Roy Lichtenstein, Victor Pasmore, Bridget Riley, Parviz Tanavoli and Andy Warhol.
The exhibition combines loans from the Arts Council Collection, Tate and the V&A with rarely seen works from the Hatton and Laing collections, such as Eduardo Paolozzi’s Bunk! series. Key loans include several examples from Warhol’s iconic ‘Marilyn’ series.
