Andipa
Hockney
Andipa is delighted to announce its next David Hockney exhibition, opening on 12 March, timed to coincide with the artist's highly anticipated show A Year in Normandie at the Serpentine Gallery in nearby Kensington Gardens.
Andipa has long championed Hockney's work. This year marks 20 years since the gallery's first Hockney exhibition in 2006, when Andipa was the first to present all twelve of Hockney's iconic swimming pool works together - an exhibition praised by The Times for "providing a wonderful insight into Hockney's creative processes."
The upcoming exhibition will primarily feature a selection of prints spanning Hockney's career, presenting a vibrant mix of works that celebrate the changing seasons, landscapes, and domestic life. Some highlights include selections from the My Window series, which capture intimate glimpses of domestic interiors and daily life; two works from the My Normandy series, reflecting Hockney's ongoing fascination with light, perspective, and environment in France; and a lithographic swimming pool scene. Collectively, these works showcase Hockney's mastery of draughtsmanship, his innovative use of medium, and his playful experimentation with scale and colour.
Acoris Andipa, Director, says: "Hockney's work has always been imbued with a subtle nod to art history; he draws from the past in myriad ways, yet remains in a continual state of evolution. From pools to portraits, photographic collages to the iPad, there is always something fresh, and yet it unmistakably feels like the vision of one mind. His work touches something deeply human: an evocation of childhood, growth, hardship and joy."
