In 1995, Wolf Lieser organised his first exhibition of Digital Art, at that time still in his gallery in Wiesbaden. It was a solo exhibition with New York artist Laurence Gartel, whom he had met in 1987.
This was followed by various efforts to make Digital Art accessible to a wider audience. From 1999 to 2002, Lieser was involved in another gallery in London, the first for digital art. In 2000, the online museum DAM was launched, followed by the DDAA Lifetime Award in 2005. Since 2003, the gallery has been active in Berlin.
The exhibition shows central positions of this genre, from early computer graphics to 3D animations, net.art, Second Life performances to the pioneers with their plotter drawings and later software works. A personal selection of art events and encounters with artists.
The exhibition focuses on artworks that were often created on the fringes of the market or have fallen into obscurity in recent years. However, they include unusual, courageous approaches that continue to have an impact within their style to this day and have significantly influenced both the development of digital art and the content orientation of DAM Projects.
