Marcel Schwittlick: Pain && Pleasure
DAM is pleased to present an insight into the creative process of Berlin-based artist Marcel Schwittlick in the solo exhibition "PAIN && PLEASURE". Inspired by generative aesthetics and computational methods, Schwittlick creates artworks that play with the concepts of chance and intention.
With his background in computer science and art, he uses vintage plotters and self-developed algorithms to explore the interplay between artist and machine.
AI-supported experiments were the starting point. Throughout his development, pen plotters played an increasingly important role, while software-based screen works have also become a significant part of his oeuvre.
His experimental spirit is expressed in a wide spectrum of aesthetic events and constantly newly created technique.
