Vera Molnar: Unimaginable Images

Vera Molnar: Unimaginable Images at DAM Projects

We are pleased to invite you to the opening of Unimaginable Images, featuring works by Vera Molnar.

As part of Gallery Weekend in Berlin, you have the opportunity to experience a diverse selection of works from the artist’s estate: fascinating plotter drawings, screen prints, fine art prints and works on canvas, all being shown in Berlin for the first time. The exhibition is complemented by personal documents and the first edition of her notebooks, “Journaux intimes 1976–2003”, which are documented on a CD-ROM and give you an impression of how Molnar worked. The title of the exhibition is taken from a leaflet published by the University Hospital Steglitz, Berlin, the Art in the Hospital project, organised by Herbert W. Franke in 1981.

“I use the computer to combine forms, in the hope that this tool will allow me to distance myself from learning processes, cultural heritage and everything else that surrounds me – in short, from the social aspects that we must regard as our second nature. Thanks to its high combinatorial capabilities, the computer aids systematic research into the realm of visual possibilities, helps the painter to free himself from cultural ‘ready-mades’ and to find combinations of forms that have never been seen before, neither in nature nor in a museum; it helps to imagine 'unimaginable images'.” Vera Molnar, 1981
