Hello, I’m Victory! a portrait visual textile artist and art facilitator, using art as storytelling tools for healing and self-reflection. I work primarily with gouache and acrylic to explore identity, memory, Nigerian culture in the diaspora and emotional regulation . My work is grounded in a trauma-informed lens informed by my background in psychology and mental health interventions.

Trauma and joy cohabitates within, expressed through woven threads of form and color.

Inspired by Nigerian textile motifs and patterns, Victory utilizes visual storytelling to explore resilience and introspection. A multidisciplinary artist from Nigeria whose work and emergence is rooted in individual trauma and grief. Using paint and form she explores identity, reconstructing her memory and expressing feelings that accompany those fractured memories while using her art to rebuild emotional regulation as she examines how personal and collective histories are held within the body.

At its core, her practice investigates how memory, emotion, and cultural inheritance are held and processed through colour, patterns and mental states.

Her work draws on Nigerian textile motifs as cultural visual language. Guiding the eye through layered compositions of a rhythmic dance across the canvas that echo inherited storytelling systems and lived experience. Using patterns to create structure, repetition and variation to explore how textiles hold complexity, as the whole becomes greater than the parts in harmony. She offers a deeply personal yet universally resonant exploration of memory, where colour becomes both emotional language and archival space, preserving fleeting internal states within material form.

Her work explores and manipulates the warmth and joy achieved through reawakening one’s childlike wonder. By holding vivid colour in tension with grief and trauma, she considers the ways bliss and euphoria coexist with loss and pain. In this way, her pieces become an intervention for healing, reflection, and acceptance.
