Tideline. Works from the collection
This exhibition presents a walk through the historical part of the collection, from classics as well as European and American art from the years following the Second World War through Op Art, Nouveau réalisme, Pop Art, and the present day.
Louisiana is home to one of Scandinavia’s largest and most important modern and contemporary art collections. Major works are often on loan to museums around the world. The collection comprises 4000 works, the majority from 1945 until today. It is not a chronological sequence of modern art—instead, the collection centres on more unified groups of works and artists.
In the current presentation, you'll see work by Jean Dubuffet, Yves Klein, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Germaine Richier, and more.
The collection is a dynamic entity that grows and moves around the museum, where it is part of selective presentations throughout the year. This is necessary to accommodate the changing exhibitions, with the museum’s permanent works as a backdrop. At the same time, it provides an opportunity to display individual works in new ways and varying constellations.
