Confluence: Where Forms Converge: Geometric Abstractions & Woodcarvings at Stefani Art Gallery

Stefani Art Gallery is pleased to present Confluence, a group exhibition featuring the work of Jude Morales alongside Monica Setziol-Phillips and the Carvers Collective*.

Bringing together geometric abstraction and contemporary woodcarving, Confluence explores the shared visual language of form, structure, and rhythm across distinct artistic practices. Though working in different mediums, each artist engages deeply with composition, balance, and the shaping of space.

Jude Morales constructs atmospheric landscapes through layered color fields, allowing form to emerge through shifts in hue and shape rather than line. His work reflects a careful orchestration of color and spatial relationships, creating environments that feel both constructed and immersive.

In parallel, Monica Setziol-Phillips and the Carvers Collective approach form through direct engagement with material. Carved in wood, their works emphasize depth, texture, and the physical act of making. Rooted in a rich regional tradition, Setziol-Phillips continues the legacy of her father, renowned woodcarver Leroy Setziol, while fostering a contemporary dialogue through her own deep and varied practice.

Across the exhibition, these approaches converge. Repetition, division, and geometric structure create points of connection between surface and depth, color and material. Whether built through accumulation or revealed through carving, each work reflects a considered balance between precision and intuition.

Confluence invites viewers to consider how artists construct meaning through form, and how distinct practices can intersect to create a unified visual experience.
