Deirdre O'Connell: New Portraits
SEFA Hudson is pleased to announce a solo presentation of new paintings by Deirdre O’Connell. The exhibition is on view from March 16th through April 26th. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, March 20th from 4-6PM with O’Connell at the Gallery.
The series featured include figure studies of O’Connell’s friends and colleagues—the characters within her daily life—writers, producers, actors and more. These people are significant to the artist, who is deeply enmeshed in the New York City theater world. Yet, their decorative qualities endow them with a pure visual pleasure, able to be appreciated by all. In the “Zoom Meeting Portraits,” viewers are met with close-ups of the faces, expressions, gestures and interiors that O’Connell observed through her computer screen, translating these elements through her mixed-media techniques.
