Curated by: Sarah Murkett, Director of Sales, MutualArt
[Not Your Grandmother’s] Wall Relief, is a curated, online, private, selling exhibition that brings together for the first time a selection of works from the APT (Artist Pension Trust) Collection with works sourced through MutualArt Private Sales.
Wall Relief has historically sat firmly within a sculptural context using such traditional techniques as carving, chiseling and casting to create works in materials like wood, stone and bronze that depict a subject through the creation of a raised surface. Contemporary artists today are anything but bound by tradition, mixing and matching media and genres to their own ends as they see fit.
The group of artists included in MutualArt’s online exhibition [Not Your Grandmother’s] Wall Relief engage with everything from new media to painting, and of course sculpture, to create playful objects that sparkle, undulate, lean, drip, and glow, and are anything but two-dimensional, actively popping off the wall to which they are attached.
